T.D. Powell started his career at Andrews Wire/Georgetown Steel in 1970. He moved to Beaumont, TX in 1974 where Georgetown Steel built a plant. In 1983 T.D. moved back to South Carolina to venture out on his own. He founded Santee Wire Products with straight and cut machines, within a few years he added wire drawing and in 1993 continued expanding by installing an annealing furnace.
